Maetryx here,
I'm shopping for my Christmas present (our household tradition as it is for a lot of geeks, I assume) and I'm looking hard at a Plextor PX-708A 8x DVD-R/W drive. It's featured in Maximum PC "Gear of the Year" issue this month. Anyway, I did a quick search on Pricewatch and one of the cheapest deals is here:
http://us-depot.com/pldvrwdvdreb.html.
But it is a weird looking page. Scroll to the bottom and there are about 10 optional items that are selected yes by default.
But what is making me buy-shy is that the "optional" items look like the contents of a retail drive. Like cables, software etc. Now the item is described as the retail product, but with all those options I wonder if they're stripping the retail unit bare and making you buy back the nomally included accessories.
Let me know what you think of that site. Thanks.
