(EDIT: I have the bad habit of posting stuff on the wrong part of the forums, can moderator please move this to correct forum)

So I was going to buy a Microphone from eBay for very cheap (Link below on post) but after reading one of the reviews the person mentioned that it needs "Phantom Power" I have no idea what that is but I did looked it up and kinda pointed me in the right direction. I Really don't want to buy extra stuff just for this Microphone its very cheap hence why I want to buy it. Can anyone tell me if this microphone would work by just plugging it in to my MoBo like I do with my other regular 3.5MM Microphone?

I've never seen true 48v phantom power on a 3.5mm jack like that. Phantom power usually comes from mixers or recording interfaces via XLR cable. While true that most condenser mics need phantom power....i would be really surprised if this did as well...

For 99 cents i'd say just try it. At worst, it will be so quiet you wont hear anything, at best, itll just work.

That's the problem when you don't know much about technology computer and audio stuff. The microphone gets here today and I am positive since its 3.5mm jack it won't need extra power. I think that review for the item was mixed up on accident from another item.

EDIT: I was referring to my self.

bullshit. there is no way for power to travel through a 3.5 jack.

So I got the Microphone, it was a freaking $1. And it works great. Not best sound but hey it actually freaking works! I just ordered 5x Clip on Microphones from Newegg for $6 too, should be getting here next weak. Brand is Neewer of the 5x mics and I've owned one of their lavalier mics before and they sound great for what they are worth.
