Im curious if there is a pc case that is inspired by an imac that i can mount a lcd on?

I would like a case that

1. sits sideways on the desktop

2. has a mount on it for a 20" widescreen lcd

3. has room under it (on legs) so that the keyboard can be pushed back under it.

4. (optional) a handle on top for eaze on carrying.

I would like to build a system that i can utilize something like a 8800gts, dual or quad core, wireless keyboard,mouse, 802.11 wireless, and considering even a bluetooth headset. to keep the wiring to a bare minimum.

Is there a case manufacter out there with something like this? Or should I have my sheet metal guy bend one up for me out of aluminum?

Well, here's the way I look at it...

A nice U2-UFO costs (let's say) $400 new.

If/when you decide to get rid of it, someone will snap it up on eBay for (say) $250 or more.

So, the actual cost of ownership is probably only $100-150, when all is said and done.

It's not like U2-UFOs are gonna go out of style, or anybody is ever going to make anything better, you know? 😉
 
I dont really want it to look like a mac. I want it to be an easy to move , use little desktop space, DESKTOP (not laptop) PC that i have the flexibility to build with components i choose.



 
no such beast exists. The latest thing to come close is Gateway' One. But it's not a case, just a competitor to the imac form factor. The HDs are modible, but the cpu and vid are probably not.

Start talking to your sheetmetal guy.
 
Get a large CRT monitor, remove the CRT tube and replace with LCD panel, use the vast space now available behind it for your other components? I saw a transparent Apple CRT done like that.

Damn you! now I want one, Damn, Double damn! I just measured an old Compac 17",,,, My 19" samung WS will fit nicely w/ dvd, floppy and power switch, reset, etc underneath. It's a cube shaped box in back, enough for an ATX board and I'll bet it will fit watercooling easy. Damn,,,,,,,,, look at all the work your making me do.😀
