Does this app already exist? Find links in a location using camera on ipad/iphone.

the background:

I work at a steel mill. We have standards and work instructions for doing specific jobs at specific areas of the plant. There is localized intranet-only wifi everywhere.

the dream:

I want to take hopefully an ipad 2 (with a camera) and take it out in the mill. I want to be able to point at a spot that I'm looking at, which will pop up a link to one of our intranet pages. That link will take me to the standards or work instruction involved with whatever I was looking at.

basically:

I need to be able to assign hyperlinks to points in space using the gyroscope, GPS, and camera. Am I so spectacularly lucky that something like this already exists? Or am I shafted and I'd have to have such a thing made (my expectation).

The easiest way would be to put QR codes in each area, snap with Camera and up comes the work instructions.

In fact, now I think of it you'll just need a QR code app which launches the intranet link and it will do exactly what you want.

That was considered, but the problem with that is finding a place to put the QR codes that will last and stay readable. It's not well lit, it's filthy, lots of places are foggy and hot. And if we change our web system at all those QR codes around the mill will all have to be changed.
