No but advanced ovarian cancer is typically a death sentence.

Her odds of living depend on which stage the cancer is in. Its in atleast stage to which means she has a 50/50 chance of living. If she its in stage three or four, shes a dead woman walking as her chances of living are 13% and 5% respectively.

pardon my conspiracy theoristic thoughts. I think she will die. and this news is just 'preparing' us for her imminent death. So we won't take it as much as a shock like Ken Lay's case.
