Does this 3DMark03 score seem a bit low for my 6800GT?

During the week I picked up a new system with expectations (based on the benchmarking reviews Ive read) that I would achieve around 13,000 3D03 marks. However, Ive only been able to get 12,060 at stock speeds (no overclocks).

I haven't been hanging around the forums long enough to know if this is any good, but do you think 12,060 seems a little low for the following system:

Athlon64 3400
Abit KV8-Pro (BIOS 16)
Gainward 6800GT 256MB Golden Sample 400/1100 (no overclock) Driver: 66.81
1GB Corsair Twinx XMS CL2
80GB Seagate SATA/8MB cache
Antec TruePower 430W


If it is a bit low is there any obvious tweaking that I should know about?

That's an ultra isn't it??

For a GT (350/1000) that's way to high ( I get 10889 with my rig), but I see yours is clocked to ultra. I think you're ok with that score.

score seems pretty much right on.,

my system scored 10,790 with no overclocks.... A64 3200+, eVGA 6800GT stock.

It's fine, my system doesn't even hit that overclocked.

looks good.... its that gainward goes like hell 6800gt isnt it? that comes clocked out the box at ultra speeds, and has lots more potential.

12,000 is bout right, thats what i get at ultra speeds too

i got 12,019 with my 6800gt oc to 400 1,100 thats with a p4 3.0 and 1 gig ram so i guess your right on, although im very dissapointed with my card in regards to playing CS:S, the screen is just very choppy. not smooth at all co0mpared to my 9800pro, im not sure whats goin on. im runnin the 70.12 drivers

my Leadtek GT and 3400+ got 11,000 on 03, so i'd consider urself lucky i guess

I get a little over 11,800 with a Athlon XP 3200+, BFG 6800GT @ 400/1100 so your score seems ok to me.

Thanks for your feedback everyone, I feel more confident with my card now.

Yeah the Gainward 6800GT 'Golden Sample' comes with Ultra clock speeds out-of-the-box (400/1100), and I think their version of the 6800 Ultra is preconfigured at 450/1200. It is also preconfigured to empty your wallet 🙂
