Does Thinkpad T40 have a firewire port?

I always thought that all models of T40 had a built in firewire port, but I was looking at an online retailor of thinkpads and their specifications said no on firewire. I went to IBM's website and their specs did not list firewire under "Communications".

I wanted to also get an iPod so could someone confirm this if they know anything?

Thanks in advance.

The T40P does not have it, so I doubt any of the models do.
It's not the most elegant solution, but the T40s all have 2 PCMCIA slots, so you can get FireWire that way.

The T40 doesn't have the firewire port. You can however, get a PCMCIA firewire card (I also get one of this and it work well with iPod). I got the Maxtor Firewire Cardbus PC Card. It is about $40 with a dongle so you can just detach the dongle and take it with you when you need it. Note that in order to get the Cardbus Firewire card to work properly, you might need to disable the PCI bus power management under the advanced power setting (this is for WinXP, I'm not sure if this is need for W2k).

My bad, it was the Thinkpad R40 that has the firewire (at least their centrino model). Seems odd that their flagship model doesn't come with firewire, but their "economy model" comes with one.

I think IBM positions the t40's as a business machine, thus the USB 2.0 vs firewire
which maybe more multimedia oriented. Could be other issues that I am not aware
of too...

If you search ebay for "3 port firewire cardbus", You will find ones that have 3 FW ports and a AC adapter port. These use the Texas Instrument chipset. The two port ones that ebay sells are most likely Via chipsets. I bought one of these for $13 shipped.
