My mom got my dad a Zen Micro for xmas, but no one can figure out if it works with itunes. My bro says no way, but the guy at circuit city who sold it to my mother said it worked with itunes, but he was most likely just making up ****** so he could get the sale. So i just need it verified, does it work with itunes or not?

Nope, might work with iTunes on Mac as that works with alot of DAPs, but iTunes for Windows is strictly an iPod affair.

What do you mean "works with iTunes"? Sure it does. Play the music on the computer with iTunes and transfer music to it like you normally would if you didn't use iTunes.

return it and get an ipod from apple really. that circuit city guy just ripped off your mom. zen micro in no way works with itunes. best you can do is to transcode the itunes files to mp3 but its not worth the effort. sales guy was just trying to push off some of his relatively slow selling creative stock on someone who wasn't technically savy. uncool

the micro should probably be cheaper. the micro was neck to neck with the ipod mini at best, and no company has an answer to nano, yet.

Or better yet, keep the Zen, and start using something better than iTunes.

itunes is 2 things: the ability to purchase music, as well as a music organizational\playing tool.

itunes will play virtually any music file on your system. but music purchased via itunes cannot be directly played on anything save the itunes software, iPods, or those itunes enabled phones that arent ipods.

the salesperson lied to your mom.

sadly that seems to be the case.

What I recommend that you do is try out the software that all these players use FIRST and then decide whether or not to return it.

Try itunes
Try Windows media player
Try napster
try rhapsody
try simply using internet explorer.

Once you decide on one, then choose the best player of the bunch.

for the msot part, with itunes, the ipod nano and the video are the best (and really only choices but very good ones) and with WMP or napster or rhapsody, the iriver players seem to be the best. the x5 iaudios [sic] are very good too.

Keep in mind that if you choose to go the route of usign windows explorer, there are otptions for ALL DAPs that make that possible:)
