Discharging HV caps.

I wouldn't want to stick my hand in gear with charged ones.

Ah, this brings back dangerous, stupid memories... I was about ~10 years old and I had bought an 11KV 1.15mA power supply and 4 7.5KV 4uF caps from an electronics sale and after not doing anything with them for a while I thought to myself "Shit, I want to see how big of a spark I'll get when I charge three of these big motherfuckers in series and discharge them" so I hooked the capacitors together with some regular 18ga or so wire and charged the bank. I then discharged them with a screwdriver and about shit my pants from the sound. I'm very lucky I'm still alive considering all the dumb shit I did when I was younger.

The oil refinery unit discharged the overpressure before it blew up.

Oil / chemical plants will have a flare that the over pressure will be discharged to and burned off. This relieves any excessive pressure in the unit.

My fapping "discharge" is quite an epic feeling. Thanks for playing!

Also, my signature applies!

Electrical discharge. IE: like capacitors discharging in a circuit that requires current flow to another component in a the same circuit can be viewed positively.

dis-cuss

Definitely not when it comes to batteries...
When the engine is running above idle and the ammeter is in the discharge range - that is bad.
Batteries always lose their jobs because they are being discharged!

This thread is now about chewing gum, submarines, and sub par video cards. Any idea? ;)

I hate Trident. Trident is too small and doesn't have enough substance. Every girl I know hates Trident, too.

Discharging an old CRT TV - they hold current for a long time and they can melt the end of a screwdriver.
