I know that the native population in Canada gets so many special privaleges its ridiculous. The most recent one is that they are allowed to jack deer at night. This means that natives can - 365 days of the year - go out with a spotlight and kill dear. Do you know why this is allowed? Because according to some treaty back in 1760-1761 it said that natives can hunt and fish to make a living.
Anyway, its un-f**king-believable what the Canadian government does for natives in this country and all they do is turn around and b*tch some more and beg for more money. Natives in canada get about $10k/head if they live on a reserve, plus an ungodly amount of subsidies, plus they do not pay any taxes at all. They complain that we are violating treaty rights as they jump in their new speedboats off to the fishing grounds or on their ATV with a rifle and spotlight.
Times have changed. This is self destructive to the once-pround native population in Canada and it bitters the rest of us. If the natives aren't hunting with bow and arrow and fishing in canoes why should a 250 year old treaty be upheld? There is only so far you can blame the white man for trespassing on this soil before it becomes ancient history. Now we have the simple matter of a people (not all natives, but the majority) who are unwilling to contribute to our nation and yet more than willing to ride on our backs and ask for handouts.
