Does the Ultra xfinity 600w psu work with Antec p180 or Nine hundred?

The psu should be mounted in the bottom of the two Antec cases.

So is the 4 pin 12V connector long enough to reach the upleft side of the montherboard?

Welcome to the AT forums.

I don't think many here would put an Ultra PSU high on their short list even if it did fit. The fact that Ultra doesn't even provide cable length info on their pages for that PSU should be a clue. You may find a review somewhere that does a better job than Ultra themselves on getting you the info you need.

Do you mean the Ultra X-Finity with a 135mm fan on the top, or the Ultra X-Finity with an 80mm fan on the end?

That's the Ultra X-Pro, which is essentially the Ultra X-Finity with the 135mm fan in the top.

XS forums has a nice tiered PSU guide. The X-Pro (X-Finity 135mm) is in Tier 2, right behind the best Tier 1 and the Tier Z units; while the X-Finity (80mm) is in Tier 4, which is second from the bottom of the list.

JonnyGURU uses an Ultra X-Pro (essentially the X-Finity 135mm) in his rig.

Unfortunately Jonny doesn't provide cable length info either. I've looked thru over a half-dozen reviews and no cable length measurements in any of them - sloppy! Though one did say (FWIW) that they should reach to the far corners of any case...

I could go measure for you, if you want. Since I am getting a new case on wednesday, my components will be out in the open and I do have measuring tape here.

You could have at least checked the Ultra Product's webpage before you posted. I guess your unwaivering anti-Ultra biased prevents you from doing that.

OP: You need something with at least 550MM (21.5MM) long main ATX and 4/8-pin to work in that case. The Ultra X-Finity's aren't long enough.

Thanks, but that's not my rig. That's madmat's.

If you decide on the 900 case, i would consider a PSU with modular cables such like the Corsair 620HX.
With PSU on bottom, not much room to stuff extra cables....just something to consider.

Well, that's not the X-Finity is it...
True, but you said...

A clue of what - that the cables lengths are too short to publish?

I bought a 600w Ultra XVS @ Fry's yesterday, for bench build & emergency backup, and the spec page includes cable lengths.

That should be a clue too, yes? 😀

To tell ya the truth this XVS is the first PSU I've bought from them.

Thought I'd better test it -=- and so far, so good -=- best $30 PSU I've owned judging by appearance...

I'll have to say, they paid attention to detail when they built this thing!

It's V nice *looking* for a cheapy, inside and out. And, the cables are excellent too!

For the price, I'm sure it'll be dead in a year, then I'll test the warranty... 😀

Thanks for all of your replies.
I bought the xfinity 600w with two 80mm fans(the free one, but not free on shipping).
I am considering to buy an Antec case.
Maybe I'll buy an extension for the PSU if I want to buy the P180.

em.. the price of p180 at compusa is very attracting.

Your fine!

I have a P180- case with the FAR X-finity installed now on a P35-DSQ
Cable length was adequate as I used the 8 pin connector for the extra 12V+ connection, which I believe is also the 4pin but not seperated (I could be WAY off on that though!)

Anyhow I was able to even mount it through the backside of the case and have it come through and plug into the motherboard in the top corner. Length was just enough to get it plugged in, with not much to spare.

Well, I'm willing to eat crow. I found cable lengths for all of the PSU's EXCEPT for the X-Finitiy. Figures.

So I measured 'em:

20+4PIN .................500mm
P4/P8(4+4) ...................500mm
SATA+SATA......... 650mm+150mm
PCI-E..................500mm
MOLEX+Floppy........500mm+150mm+150mm+150mm+150mm

I still don't think they're long enough, but I don't have a P180 here like bungee91. I also don't like draping my power cables across the motherboard. I like to go around the edge of the board and if the cables aren't at least 550mm, you typically can't do that.

bungee91, got pics?

Then again, I don't like the P180 design either. Why flip where the PSU is if you're not also going to flip the board?

Alright this is the best pic I have right now..
P180

I circled where my 8-pin is on the board, I just have it running through the back section.

If anything is needed I have a camera in front of me and have to take the thing apart tomorrow to lap anyhow... So let me know if the pic doesn't help I can take more.

Oh... hmm.. well.. I guess I'm eating crow twice then.

The cables really are long enough.

Ok... I think I'm just going to take the rest of the day off. 😀
