Hello Everyone,

I recently bought a new laptop with the Samsung PM981a SSD NVME M.2. I feel that the drive isn't fast, especially for this SSD and I don't see Samsung NVME driver in my Device Manager. I read online that the Samsung NVME driver is necessary to boost the performance of the drive. When I go to Samsung's website, there is no driver for the PM981a, at least I cannot find it. Anybody can help me to locate the driver for the PM981a SSD? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Although Samsung officially doesn't support NVMe SSDs, which are not designed for the consumer market, you definitively will be able to use a Samsung NVMe driver for the NVMe Controller of your PM981a SSD.
Which OS are you running and which NVMe driver are you currently using? By the way - the NVMe Controller is listed within the "Storge Controllers" section of the Device Manager.

I've used Samsung SSD's since around 2014 and I never installed a driver, going on the advice from here and other places that the windows/intel driver would do just as good. I'm curious if that is still the case.

You can use the extracted drivers for it but it won't work with Magician. You can manually install them through Device Manager, under storage controllers as stated by Fernando. I got these drivers (host is my site) from Fernando's post over at the Win-Raid Forum. NVMe drivers are not required, but Samsung drives do tend to perform a bit better with them.
