Does the Retail Lite on 40x burner come with an IDE cable?

Sure it does, though it's a short standard 40pin/40wire.

This goes for the 32x-, the 40x- and the 48x-version here in Germany.

Ehhhhh, mine didn't, it was bought retail.

I just picked one up, and it came with the IDE cable and nero 5.5...and a deal for 65.00 after rebate! (plus you can upgrade the firmware and have a 48X CDR.)

How does that firmware update work? Pretty successful?

Either way, not concerned with seconds 😛

I just purchased a Retail LiteOn LTR40125S 40x12x48x ............. NO eide cable included.
But they did include Nero V5.5.7.8v ("The software will only work with the CD-recorder it came bundled with.")
Also included:

1 ea. Audio cable and 4 mounting screws.
1 ea. Blank CD-R media "LiteOn" brand - Proessional Multi-Speed.
1 ea. Blank CD-RW media "LiteOn" brand 4x-12x.

Too bad you already ordered another cable. You should have gone with rounded cables. They look cool if you're into case modding and keep your system's airflow moving at a more optimal rate.

I also just bought a 40x Liteon burner lately here in NA and it didn't have any ide cable, just the audio cable, nero, screws and a cd and cdr in slim cases.

If anyone wants to know, the firmware upgrade can be done on 32x(with the 'W' in the model) and 40x drives. Make sure you get the right firmware cause there's a difference with the buffer on the two I saw (v02 and v06 something). Get the one that matches your current buffer. The 48x will give you Mount Rainier support as well as burning at 48x, which has had problems by most users trying to burn above 40x.
