Does the Psu Wattage affect CD/DVD reading?

Hi all,

At the moment I run:

350Watt PSU
P4 2.66Mhz
1Gig DDR400
Geforce Fx5600
DVD rewriter
DVD player
Modem
Soundcard
1 extra case fan
2 ethernet cards

But recently I have burnt several discs with avi format videos on it. However when I put them back into either DVDroms they dont always play. Sometimes I have to eject and and then close it again and it works?! But most times they don't play at all, even though they play fine on my friend's PC. I have checked if theres any damage/dirt on the discs but they are all freshly burned!

Do you think that I need a more powerful PSU as it has blown previously when I had the standard 300W PSU that came with the unit.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I have more than that in with a Antec 350 and no probs. If its a good brand PS you should be good to go. To see if its the PS, try unplugging one of the opticals and any unneeded HDs, NIC and the extra case fan temporarily and see if it makes a dif. If the PS is marginal maybe that will give it some breathing room.

What brand PS is it?

All I can think of is the lens may be getting dirty perhaps. If they play in a friends OK then they obviously are being burnt OK. Perhaps your vid codecs are wrong or out of date?
