Does the PS3 have the capability to do HDMI and optical audio seperately?

Meaning, direct feed HDMI to my TV for video, and the optical audio to my receiver, which does not support HDMI? Either on its own, or with some kind of AV adapter/cable? Do not have a PS3 (yet), I was looking at it for a possible blu-ray option, but if it can't do this, then it won't do me any good.

Also for the analog folks like me, it also outputs analog through the PS3 AV output while also outputing HDMI.

Isn't it limited to 2.1 like that though? Its a pain because my optical headphones are surround but my speakers are 2.1... gotta switch back and forth in the settings to get the best sound from either.

What part do you mean limited?

I send video by HDMI and audio by optical in 5.1....

Whenever I try to set it to multi output there is some kind of warning message saying that you can only output 2.1 sound to both at the same time. Maybe I read it wrong... I don't remember exactly what it said.

Read what you are trying to do here! You can send full HDMI video + audio with the RCA going at stereo or w/e

You can't send optical AND rca, which is something I would want
