thanks. is the PS3 optimized to benefit at all from a Version 1.3 HDMI cable ?

The PS3 is HDMI 1.3 complient. Blue Jeans Cable sells the Only USA made HDMI cable that costs 3x less than monster and is 10x higher in quality. I have one, I can attest to the supreme craftsmanship. (Series 1 and Series 2 are USA made)

Yes.

hey thanks. that happens to be the same cable i was looking at . .. i was thinking too
hard about the meaning of 'in-wall installation' . . .

anyway, further down on the same page, they have the same 1.3 version with 'ferrite
cores' that come in a range of colors. are they kosher too ?

i'd love to have one of the yellow or red cables .

Shouldn't be a problem, they're all digital cables. If you wanna get a different color, it shouldn't matter either 😉

With certain low quality HDMI cables you will have artifacts on the screen.

I have more proof, but need to search through more than 1MB+ of bookmarks to find it.

There really isn't any such thing as a "Version 1.3 HDMI cable", the cables are the same as any other HDMI cable. Newer ones are generally labeled as 1.3, but that is just marketing.

That's not true, it's much more than just marketing. The testing requirements for version 1.3 have been improved. You now have two categories for cables, category 1 & category 2. Category 1 cables are tested to perform at speeds of 75Mhz which is the equivalent of a 1080i signal. Category 2 cables have been tested to perform at speeds of 340Mhz, and can handle resolution of 2560 x 1600.
You are difference between Standard and High-Speed HDMI cables while ingoring the fact that cables labeled "HDMI 1.3" can be either. Again, the "HDMI 1.3" label on cables is just marketing.
There's no such thing as a "high speed" HDMI cable specification. That's just something Monster made up (speaking of people being taken in by marketing!). If it says HDMI 1.3b1 on the cables, it has indeed been tested differently than an HDMI 1.2 cable - or should have been, anyways. You need to go to Wikipedia and read about the different HDMI versions.

There's nothing stopping you from using an HDMI 1.2 cable with HDMI 1.3 stuff. It'll probably work. Then again, it might not, depending on how the cable was made. The HDMI 1.3b testing specs are supposed cut back on that.
