does the post office take custom envelopes?

custom as in someone threw away the netflix return envelope so I'm using a folded plastic sleeve and taped it up good. It's the shape of a square, big enough for the dvd. Can I just throw a stamp on that and is that enough?

You can just put a stamp and label on the DVD and send it... I've gotten promotional BS like that before. Or just place it in the center of a piece of paper and fold the paper over it. Tape, label, stamp and send.

I thought they outlawed wrapping boxes in paper bags, but saw a guy with a bunch of those last time I stopped at the local waste of time post office.
