Does the original Ghost Recon's gameplay still hold up today?

I'm also trying to think of something different to play, and I came across a CD two pack I bought years ago: Ghost recon and the Island expansion.

I went to widescreemgamingforums to see if it works with eyefinity, and I guess it can be played multi-monitor but it's probably a pain in the ass to set up. So before I get started I was wondering if people here thought about how the gameplay has held up.

I remember it was a highly regarded when it came out.

(I also have an unopened box of the original Rainbow 6; would that be more fun?)

I enjoyed that whole series. I recall that Ghost Recon had quite good graphics for the time, moving trees, shadows, etc. I still have my old CDs around here somewhere, although I have never tried them on Windows XP even, much less Windows 7. If they can be made to run then I would say you'll definitely enjoy the gameplay.

"Tango down."

Thanks.

I think I'll give it a go. I just shudder when WSGF says "hack" under multi-monitor. That usually means a scavenger hunt.
