Does the military have set email address's?

I'm trying to find a friend I know his name and what base hes on so I'm thinking I can guess his email. I'm assuming they have a certain format like firstnamelastname@base.mil or something. Anyone know what if there is a format for them?

usually Firstname.lastname@us.branch.mil

IE - John.Doe@us.army.mil

That's at least what I've encountered.

they can be pretty complicated and near impossible to guess....

example: someone in the Air National Guard based at Forbes Field Topeka is first.last@kstope.ang.af.mil

You could play around for a while, but if you don't know how they abbreviate the last part, you are pissing in the wind

In the Air Force, it's generally firstname.lastname@basename.af.mil. This depends on the base and MAJCOM to some degree, and also presumes there is not more than one person with the same name, on the same base (I am actually one of two people with my name and rank on my base, so I am firstname.lastname2@basename.af.mil.

cool thats what I was looking for I'll play the gamble and hope hes the onlyone on the base and that he checks his emails

Don't know what the "vf31" was for though...
