Hello All,

Does the Intel 915P chipset support Pentium D processors? From what I've read on the Intel site and such, only the Prescott 775 is mentioned.

Thank you!

Not officially.

But if you have a good board, it might. The Asus P5P800, a 865 chipset board, can support Preslers.

There might be some specific boards that will support Presler, most of the older chipsets don't support the 8xx series pentium-d's most likely due to the hefty power requirements. Like dexvx said, there are even some 865 chipset boards that support presler(although it's specificly the P5P800 SE that supports it, the regular P5P800 doesn't).

Well, I think I might be looking into the P5P800 SE solution, since it seems to be rather cheap on Newegg.com (it's $82), and it'll be really nice to be able to keep my current DDR400.

Just don't plan on getting one of the great OC"s with a Presler on that board, can't get my 920 past 3.43ghz stable on it. And no PCIe on that board either. Also won't post with a presler if it has an older BIOS, so it would be handy to have a P4 or celeron around in case you need to flash the bios.
