does the IBM/Lenovo T61 not come with any software?

What the heck is this?
I'm thinking about returning this laptop... first of all, it took about 2 months for it to arrive and now, it doesn't even include the Operating System?
I want to do a clean install of windows vista

have you tried calling them? It is possible that it is a screwup. Also, I thought that lenovos included restore partitions that included utilities for when you need to reformat.

I reiterate that you should call them

You access the restore partition by pressing the blue IBM button at start up. It will re-load to factory spec, or you can pick and choose what to load. I wiped mine clean and just use my own build. You can also call or email ibm andget restore disks

It sounds like you haven't bought a new PC in a while. This is now standard practice.

it's all about that big blue button. Press it and it will guide you through on how to make the restore disc.
