Does the human brain physically shrink with age?

Just wondering. As humans reach the age of senility it appears that everything exposed and obvious shrinks except their ears. I was just curious if their brains shrink as well.

Oh, senior citizens, more comonly known as "old fvcks", also get all stooped over and can't seem to rember anything, but that isn't the point.

I never claimed to be Albert Fvcking Einstein, I just had a question. If you can't answer it then by all means make light of it. I was just curious why all you old fvckers seem so dingy and can't ever seem to answer a question. 😉

Yes, just like many other things, the brain also shrinks. It is very obvious in a CT scan of an older person.

there, an answer for all the thread crappers

As far as I know, brain cells don't get replaced like other cells in the body do, so it'd make sense that it shrinks over time. They probably just start to wear out as they age, and can't make or maintain connections as well, so memories can't be retained as well, and they fade easier.

In short, no... A shrunken brain would flop around in the head and get badly damaged...

Just because you don't understand the answer, doesn't mean the question wasn't answered.

Yeah... but there is IIRC no correlation between brin size and cognitive ability... Brain shrinkage isn't necessarily a bad thing...

apparently no one believes my earlier post, but i've seen many CT scans of both young and old people. There is a lot more CSF in older peoples heads, only one way this could happen, either their skull enlarges or the brain shrinks. Pretty clearly the brain is shrinking. Dont get me wrong, it doesnt decrease by like 25% or anything, but there is some shrinkage. Only persons skull that grows after about 25 is barry bonds and thats cause he's on roids.

I want to thank those of you who answered my question from a position of knowledge and research, as opposed to those knowitalls who spouted bullshyt and ignorance without bothering to even do a simple Google search. 😀

The point of this thread wasn't to get an answer to my questiion, I already knew the answer, but to draw out and showcase the the dipshits who just have to blurt out an answer to any question or to denigrate the OP.

So, thanks to all the dipshyts for entertaing me and kudos to the rest of you for not jumping on the popular bandwagon.
