Does the Haswell stock cooler require extra thermal compound?

Simple question. I finally received my 4670K and motherboard from Newegg today. When I read my motherboard manual it tells me to apply a layer of thermal compound on the CPU before attaching the cooler. In the past, I have never applied any extra thermal compound when using stock Intel coolers as they had thermal pads already attached. Is it necessary to apply extra thermal compound with the stock cooler? I am not planning on overclocking with the stock cooler.

As long as it has something like that:
Peel of the clear plastic and attach.

You do not need to add anything if using the stock cooler that has pre applied thermal compound. You can always remove it and use some better compound, but it isnt required unless you are wanting to overclock

Most HSFs come with either TIM already on the bottom or with a small tube of the stuff. You should use one or the other but not both. (meaning that if the HSF has the applied TIM, you should not add anything on top of it)

Thanks everyone. I didn't think it was a good idea to add extra compound to the stock cooler, just wanted to be sure!
