What is the deal with the Geforce drawing too much power from the motherboard ? Is there any incompatability with existing motherboards ?
Is there a solution ?

I also heard that the Geforce 2 is better in terms of power ? Any info is appreciated.

With almost all present day motherboards there are almost no power problems with a Geforce, according to what the specifications are it uses about 16 watts i think, boards such as the AsusK7V, K7M, Abit KA7, etc... basically all new boards will have no problems with this as long as you have a sufficient power supply ie: 300 is usually good

The geforce 2 uses ~8 watts so it should work a lot better

hope this was of a help...

I've heard of people running Voodoo 5's on 200W systems, so I think the problems with Geforce/2 was never the amount of power they drew, but instead the finnicky nature of the cleanness of the power they received.

Hey, what about the new Geforce MX. Does anybody have a idea of how much power it draws ?

The GeForce2 MX only draws about 4W of power :D - 1/2 of the GeForce2 GTS and 1/4 of the GeForce 256, and that is pretty good if you ask me...

BTW - the mobile ATI Rage chipset draws 2W - 1/2 of the GeForce2 MX, that's why the GeForce2 MX is still too juicy for the mobile market.
