Does the dodo plane fly in GTA 3???

Ya I remember having a hard time back when I played this game. I was just a kid at the time though, I'd like to give it another try.
 
Yes it does. There is a slight learning curve. It was a big deal back when the game was released, you can do it though just takes practice.
 
Ive bought all the GTA's on steam for £5 so nows as good a time as any to retry this. My friend on the PS2 back in 2001 said he flew it... he didn't sound very convincing so i didn't believe him, my other friend who was on PC like me sort of managed it with some kind of "make everything fly" mod but he still couldn't fly it very well and ended up in the water 9 times out of 10.

I read the turret up/down controls are the key.
 
I think I remember that there was a hidden spot that you could fly to if you flew out of the world far enough. It was a little part of the city that the game used as a set for a cut scene or something.
 
I played tons of GTA 3 back in the day, and yes, the dodo plane is certainly flyable. It's damn hard to learn, but it's flyable.

Edit: GTA 3 for PC, to be specific.
