I'm buying this unit here 34GP83A-B, and I was wondering if the DP to Mini-DP cable will support the full 144Hz? My Laptop only has a mini-DP port so I wasn't sure if I need to get an adapter instead.

Thank you in advance

Just to clarify you're asking for a mDP to DP converstion cable that supports 4K at 144Hz. Cable specifications are universally a mess. You need to be careful.

Most of the cables (from reputable brands like Cable Matters) I'm seeing that convert mDP to DP advertise 8K 60 Hz. When you read the fine print they say they support 144Hz but at 2K (1440P) max.

Amazon.com: Cable Matters Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort Cable (DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort 1.4 Cable) with 8K 60Hz Video Resolution and HDR in Black 6 Feet - Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 Port Compatible : Electronics

This adapter says it supports 4K at 120Hz.

Amazon.com: Cable Matters 8K Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.4 Adapter (Mini DP to DP 1.4) in Black - 8K@60Hz, 4K@120Hz Resolution Ready - Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 Port Compatible : Electronics

The Cable Matters website is much more detailed. It looks like the most you can expect is 4K at 120Hz. If you need 144 Hz you have to bump down to 1440P. This is probably a bit rate limitation of the DP 1.4 specification.

You might be able to find a very expensive "active" adapter but that would probably be cost prohibitive.
