Does the case matter...

or, more specifically, it's size, and what it's made of.

Looking at most of the "high end" cases are Full-Tower. Does the size of the case really matter when it comes to cooling, (for Mid-Tower vs. Full-Tower) assuming that they both have the same number of fans? Also, most are aluminum. Is a Full-Tower aluminum case strong enough to last 5-6 years, with my occasional leaning on it?

KillaKilla:

Its more in the positioning of fans and which direction the fan moves the air. Size obviously matters, since size mean space. A small case means cables have to be cramped into tighter confines, which leads to worsened airflow. Aluminum tends to disspate heat at a higher rate than steel, and, it is much less dense than steel (thus cases are lighter), which is the whole reason people opt for aluminum cases. I guess both material and size matters.

I only recently purchased a aluminum case, mostly for looks. It wasn't until after I recieved the case that I realized how light it actually was. Compared to steel full towers, it feels like nothing.

Neither the size or the matterial matter. Look at DELL cases. They are well made, not particularly large, quiet, and use ducting to cool the CPU.

Material makes absolutly no difference, but the size ovbiouly do! A good case should be big enough to let the air to flow freely and reach every component, also if it is big the temperature of the general air inside the case goes down.
