Does the brightness control on your 2005fpw do anything?

The contrast button on my 2005fpw changes the picture dramatically, but the brightness does almost nothing from 0 to 100%. Same for yours?

I'm running a VGA connection; it does hardly anything. The contrast makes a huge difference though.

I think this goes for most LCDs. My LG LCD also has a fairly useless brightness button. I don't really notice anything unless I go from 0-100. Otherwise, the contrast makes a difference, but not as drastic as my old CRT.

I got my Gretag Eye-One Display 2 colorimeter last night and have been playing with it today. If you don't have a colorimeter or access to one, here's what I've found to be the best settings:

Brightness = 0% (manual)
Contrast = 53% (manual)
Color settings: User Preset (I think these are factory defaults)
> Red = 100
> Green = 98
> Blue = 94
Color Management (software) = 2005fpw ICC color profile

Those are my settings, with the except of the 2005fpw color profile (I have a custom-calibrated on in there now). To test it out, look at these images on your 2005fpw:

GrayScale (you should see "8" in gray clearly at the end)

Another grayscale bar

Tokyo at Night

Tokyo at Night should come out very well. I can see all sorts of details in it now that I didn't see before.
