Does the bed frame make the bed more comfortable?

Right now I have my box spring/mattress sitting right on the floor with no frame under it. I was wondering if the bed would be more comfortable if it were on a frame

No, it does make the platform more or less solid though. We had just a metal frame w/wheels under our mattress for years but when we went to a solid wood bedframe it raised the bed up higher and made the platform much more sturdy. Our bed never moves around now even when you are...ahem, moving around on it. ;)

Oh, well I have a simmons beautyrest mattress which is a pretty good quality mattress but it's a little too firm for my liking. I heard that putting it on a frame may make it more comfortable.. maybe I should try a mattress pad

Getting rid of the box spring tends to make the mattress more comfortable, IMHO. Elevating the mattress off the floor will keep it warmer.

I sleep with my mattress on the floor because my box spring is fscked. It's the only way I can keep my mattress flat so that my back doesn't hurt like hell in the mornings.
