I just need to know because all my pci slots are full and need to know this just incase i buy one. Im looking at the one that has the soundcard in the front (having it in one of the cdrom slot) and back of the system

If one of your existing PCI cards happens to be a Firewire card, the Audigy Platinum does have one FW port on it, so it could potentially take the place of the FW card.

The sound card itself takes up a sound card and the expansion pack plugs into the card with an IDE like cable.

You could look at getting the Audigy NX, which is a USB 2.0 sound card. From what I've seen/heard, it's pretty descent and has a lot of features.
