Does the ATI 9700 Pro have a DVI-D output?

I have the dvi to component adapter and some component cables, but can't get the connection to work properly (I get distorted images that don't fill up the complete image that the projector is projecting).

I have an ATI 9700 Pro, ATI HDTV Wonder, and am using Catalyst 4.12.

EDIT: can you look at the DVI-D closeup picture. It seems to be missing the middle set of 9 pins. Is this normal and correct?

If I remember correctly, the middle pins (though I think it may be 6 and not 9) are only used in dual-link DVI connections, which the 9700 Pro doesn't support (nor do most other consumer-level video cards), and are only necessary for resolutions above 1920x1200 anyway.

I got 480p and 720p working just fine from my 9800pro.
Your images are distorted meaning they don't fill up the screen correctly or they are distorted in other ways too?

Does a regular DVD player work right?

Main thing is that everything is shrunk and there are large amounts of black space all around the image.

Aspect Ratio is often distorted also.

I don't own a regular dvd player.

What res are you outputting to the projector?

Try 720p or 480p for the output.

Make sure you cycle through the aspect ratios on the projector to make sure that's not the problem.

If the image is messed up with 720p and 480p over component, you might have the same problem feeding the same res over DVI.
I know it can work, so I'd suggest trying to get it working over component before you spend any more money.

Have you tried hooking up anything else to the projector yet? A regular composite or s-video source even?

Does the "Infocus" startup screen fill up the whole area?

Yes, composite via a vcr is fine, as is the Infocus start up screen.

Computer display resolution is 1024 x 768 @ 60 Hz.

I've tried all aspect ratios on the 4805 and they all are not correct in some way.

You should be able to output 16:9 resolutions from the computer. Try selecting 720p and seeing what happens.

480p is going to look the best on it as the projector's native res.

I can select "widescreen display" in my ATI Mutimedia center, but it doesn't correct the problem.

1024 x 768 is actual computer crt display resolution; I've selected 480 i/p, 720p, and 1080i via dip switches on the dvi to component dongle.

Does it work correctly when you actually choose 720p for the display resolution?
The adapter doesn't change the output res from the videocard to the projector (it's not going to change 1024x768 to 720p), it just enables the widescreen 16:9 resolutions to be selected for output to it.

I tried 1920 x 1080 in the past and still got a shrunk / cropped image.

What computer display resolution are you using to output via the dvi to component adapter? Also, which Catalyst driver have you used successfully?

I don't have the 9800pro anymore, but I used 720p and 480p for the res.

For text the only thing that's going to look really sharp is 480p.

For gaming 720p and 480p worked well.

Do you mean actually selecting 1280 x 720 in the Windows display control panel? (and does refresh rate mean anything)?
