I have an ATA100 cable connecting the hard drive and a cd drive...

then I have an ATA33 cable connecting the other cd drive. (no more ATA100 cables)

it doesnt detect the second cd drive so I am guessin this motherboard wont accept ATA33?

in the manual is point labels the two controller ports as ATA66 and ATA100 with no mention of ATA33 :)

The top two ports are ATA66/33 only and should have no problem with an ATA33 cable. The bottom 2 ports labeled ATA100 should also be fine with an ATA33 cable (since it should all be backward compatible) but I have not tried it myself.

Where is the ATA100 cable plugged into? What about the ATA33? You mean the second CD drive is not being detected? What OS are you using?

Secondary Drive is not being detected, its on AUTO.

Windows ME with latest 4 in 1's

The ATA100 is on Primary IDE1
I have tried the ATA33 in the secondary IDE1

Lemme try something and see if it works.

I realize they are all supposed to be backwards compatable but something isnt right :)

ATA33 should work fine on all the ports and the IDE connectors are backwards compatible with the ATA33 spec. Have you tried using a different cable?
It pay be that specific cable is not working properly.

I got it working. Needed to but both cables, even the ATA100 into the ATA66/33 ports. So I have degraded performance until I can get some new cables.

Thank you for your help.
