Does the A8N32-SLI naturally run hot?

So my mom wanted my old board, an A8N-SLI Deluxe, and got me a A8N32-SLI (why, I don't know, but I'm not questioning it). I noticed immediately that my idle CPU temp is about 43-44C, whereas with the old board it was maybe 37-38. The mobo temperature is also around 43-44, while the old board was 35-37.

I'm not too concerned -- on Priming, ?T (change in temp) was very low. It's been a few hours and is currently holding at 52C, so ?T is only 8C. I just wanted to see if the board runs naturally hot or if I did something wrong. I've got three 120mm fans running in my Antec P180 -- 2 Panaflo midspeeds for exhaust and a Silverstone FN121 for intake, plus a Nexus fan controller. Maxing out all fans, if anything, increases the case and CPU temperature slightly. Leaving them on the minimum voltage is running fine.

On another topic, I've got a TT Big Typhoon. I noticed that the airflow is DOWN, ie, towards the Al fins. I was under the impression that the fan is supposed to blow the hot air away from the fins, not air towards it? Would changing the orientation of the airflow direction change anything temperature-wise?

Thanks for all the help.

The new board's temp sensors are probably a bit off, it's nothing to worry about as long as it's stable. As for the CPU heatsink, the fan blows cool air onto the fins, which is where it heats up and gets blown away. I tried flipping the fan on my Big Typhoon and temps were 3-5C worse.

In most, if not all, cases the fan blowing down on the HSF will give you lower temps than fan sucking off of HSF.

I have the same board, same case and everything, but I have a xp-120, and the cpu fan is blowing down. CPUis X2 3800+

when the room temp is around 20C, my CPU is about 39-40C and MB temp is about 35-36. When I am running 2 instances of Prime, my temp go up to 48C, which is still not bad.

But it worry me a bit, because I want to OC, but my CPU temp is a bit high compare to other people. Most people with my CPU is running about 28-30C.

So if you are not planning to OC, then there is nothing to worry about, but on another hand, if you plan to OC, you are very limited

I did plan on OCing D:

Again, it's interesting because my old board was OCed (X2 4200+ to 240MHz x11) and it ran cooler. Go figure.

i have one that runs really cool. my mb temps are rarely over 30 and my max load temps are 41-43 with a 148@2.9

I think my stacker/crossflow/SI-120/Hi speed Panaflo is the reason tho.

Okay, after OCing to 240x11 the maximum temperature is something like 55C. w00t! It's not much more than at stock load, so I guess it's fine.

So I figured out a new culprit and am working to rectify the situation:

I'm running 2xGeforce 6800GS in SLI. The southbridge heatsink is directly under the top video card. I'm gonna guess that the heat radiating from the top card is making the liquid in the heatpipe vaporize faster, so less mobo heat is being dissipated. I ordered two NV5 video card coolers, hopefully that will help case temps go down (the NV5 coolers vent directly out of the system). I'm going to guess that the CPU temp is so high because of the case temp.
