Does the A64 Cool'n'Quiet technology ever harm the CPU?

I would imagine that dropping from a low voltage to a high voltage back and forth so many times would ultimately have some adverse effects on the CPU (and even the fan RPM speeds going from low to high!)..... Y'know, like turning off and on the power a lot. Just like wearing it out slowly and slowly? Should I just leave CnQ off then and have it run at full Vcore power?! Hmm...

I think AMD advertised CnQ as a feature that would increase the lifespan because of the lower voltages when your coumputers idle. I'm sure the amd engineers thought about this at some stage and have put in some sort of feature to prevent long term damage from it.

I guess if you're still concerned and you want the best of both worlds, turn off CnQ, run your cpu at stock speed but just undervolt (if you have the option in your bios)

It wont harm the CPU, the changes are not great enough to do any damage.

Why are people so concerned about the AMD64 I will never know. Mine runs at 34C idle (1.55V) and I expect to have it for at least 18 months by which time the price of the X2s will have come down quite a lot. The older XPs run a lot hotter and I haven't really heard of anyone burning up any XPs. Personally I also run 2 mobile XPs O/C to 2400 each (for over 2 years now!) and they idle at 44C and load temps are 51C! Never had a single problem and I may even keep them another year!
