In some ways, you can consider the 4g to be a downgrade from a 3g 15gig+ ipod. The only significant improvement is the extended battery life. Some people like the styling on the 3g better. The size is basically the same. And you don't get a dock with the 20gig 4g ipod either.

... but I think the price is cheaper so you can get that separately with the money you saved.

I found the iSplitter a "must-have" accessory when I was on a 5-hour plane ride with my fiancee.

All other accessories like the dock are nice but not warranted.
