Does such software exist: syncing backup between HD and External HD

OK, I am reading a LOT about all the services for external, online backups. Carbonite, Mozyhome, etc. are all cool looking, but I have a 1TB external Iomega Hard Drive I just purchased and would like to set up a backup between a few of the folders in my My Documents folder.

When I say backup, I mean this: When I work on my files and want the new or changed stuff to be reflected in the External drive, the installed backup software will go ahead and make the changes to update or add the appropriate files to the external backup.

I hope I am explaining this properly. So far I don't see any software that can do this, but then again, there are so many options out there that I am sure I have only scratched the surface on this one.

Yes, I can just move things around myself, but it would be so much easier to have something automatic.

Any recommendations?

What about SyncToy v2.0?

Or Allway Sync?

Hi Matt,

I never tried Sync Toy but I heard positive comments about it - and it's Free.

I can also suggest an easy to use commercial backup product that does what you're looking for but it's not free and i am affiliated with the company (so i could be biased 🙂 ) - its Oops!Backup - http://www.altaro.com

If you only want one way backup, Windows 7 has automatic backup from Internal to wherever else you want it to go. If you're talking two way synch, like you can change stuff on the external and have it reflected on the internal, you're going to want one of the previously mentioned programs.
