Does such software exist - display output change via software

I have a Dell U2515H monitor with two computers attached to it. My MacBook pro is plugged in via hdmi and my desktop pc via display port. They share a mouse and keyboard but at the moment when i want to switch between the two I need to manually change the display input on the monitor. Not a big deal of course but it would be useful if you could do it via software. Does anyone know of software that does this or if it is even possible?
