I want to know if it is possible to buy a pair of winter boots that are like running shoes that are designed for running in snow. I know that they make special snow shoes for running but I want something that goes in the snow instead of being on top of it.

Does such a product exist? Is it possible to make?

((If you are a product development person and you are going to steal my idea pls send me one pair in size 7))

Ummm... several running shoe companies make waterproof, highly rugged versions of their trail shoes specifically made for running in winter weather, if that's what you're talking about. I think Asics does it, and Solomon and Merrel might too.

Try on various hiking boots. They are the closest thing and quite comfy actually.

I could run in the snow in my work boots if I wanted to, and they're steel toe. How fast do you need to get goin?

They're fairly new and seem to incorporate all the features of cross trainers.

thanks for all your replys everyone. I think that such a shoe doesn't exist. I have some columbia boots that are pretty good right now but I am afraid they might wear out fast. I was just thinking about getting something with more support for my knees but running in the snow is going to be hard on the knees no matter what I think.

Indoors isn't an option because I run with my dog.

Running on snow isn't that fun. It's hell on connective tissue and leaves you sore as crap the next day.

Just my $.02

What's the deal with connective tissue? I definitely know about the soreness (having ran the past 30 straight days in the slipperiest snow I've ever encountered), but this is the first I've heard of this. I actually enjoy it; it's fun and is such a great workout. It's like trail running, but better. It works all of your muscles.
