I have an Athlonxp 1700, 512megs of ram, gf3 @ ti500 speeds, etc - you can visit the link in my sig to get all the details. In this game i had to run the default settings just for it to be playable at 1024x768. With any more options on, i would be stuck at about 20-25 fps. This is not playable. Now, with alot of options turned off (anisotropic filtering, for example, which is enabled by default) i get about 45-50fps. This seems liek its still pretty bad- i get 90fps in kedi knight II. Anybody else get pretty bad performance in this game??

I just wanna know if there is something up with my computer that i can fix, or if this game is simply incredibly hardware intensive.

Thanks guys
Butch

EDIT: I just got 7818 in 3dmark 2001se. That seems pretty decent. Could there be one setting that just makes my framerates tank??? Thanks for the help.

I don't have any problems and I have way less juice than you do. But then again the engine they have is nothing to brag about.

Hmmmmm, sorry to hear that butch84 perhaps its a driver problem with your sound/video card. I am playing it at 1152x860 (I think) or what ever that number is after 1024x768 and its running great.

Although I have not checked my actual FPS but its never ever slowed down. With your system you should be getting high frame rates very easily.

Get back in here and give us an update as we gamers MUST have high frame rates 😀

Proverb : High frame rates = life

yeah, i bechmarked with 3dmark 2001se again, no change. I made a point to install directx 8.1 again too. I think the difference may be that you have a gf4 while i only have a gf3. As far as the sound, ill check into that.

Thanks
Butch

Butch...GF3 ti200 PIII600 and 512mb pc100 ram on an old BX motherboard and I'm getting fps's in the 70's.

When I hit the jungle level though, it dropped to the 20's in some spots.

Running at 1152x678 with most stuff turned on either high or medium.

I get around 90-100 fps in multiplayer.

I'll have the game in a few days so I'll be able to tell you exactly how it runs. In the meantime:

Could there be one setting that just makes my framerates tank???
Disable FSAA, anisotropic filtering, shadows and vsync.

As a follow up to this, I took my gf3 out to put in another comp and put an old tnt2 card in. fps went down to 15-30 :Q.

AMD 1900XP
768MB PC2100 DDR
Visiontek G4 (stock) 28.32's
GTXP 3.02 Drivers

Runs smoooooth as silk at 1240*1024 with all the eye candy cranked up. I actually thought this was one of the 'smoother' games at those settings that i have played in a long time....

Oh, and BTW, this game rocks!

I started getting the Nvidia loop error when I installed this game. It happens when I exit the game and myh desktop will freeze before it is completly drawn. It started on the 29.40's then I tried the 29.20's now I am back to the 28.32's. It is very minimal now but it bugs the heck out of me.

system;
XP1800@1621
MSI K7T266 Pro-RU
MSI G4 4600
Win XP

So, my gf3 is just too slow for this game? Everybody that has a gf4 seems to be running it fine. Oh well, i turned a bunch of options off, now i get about 50fps at 1024x768.

Butch

Butch, if you see my first post I have a gf3 ti200 and I'm getting great frame rates at 1152x864 with everything on either high or medium. I did disable vertical synch and anisotropic (sp?) filtering though.

I have the MP test. Compusa didn't get their shipment yesterday. 🙁
i have a P4 1.5 ghz, GF2 GTS, 256 RDRAM. and i get about 60 FPS most the time, going in the 50's frequently. But i don't think i've seen it in the 40's.
running 1024, and most texture settings and stuff on high... i bet no AA though.

i did notice that the mp test runs a lot better that the single player game. I think they optimized it for performance, so it runs better on most computers, and gets lower pings. I get about 100fps in the mp test, but only about 50 in the single player, and thats after i turned a lot of settings to "medium"
