Does Sodimm EDO DIMM for laptop need to be installed in pair?

I have a Toshiba 520CDT, one seller has a stick of Sodimm EDO DIMM that will work on this laptop according to Viking web site.

I want to be sure if I must install laptop RAM in pair? Coouldn't find that on Toshiba's site. thanks.

I thinks that is what the shorter Laptop RAM are called.

above, if it is 72 pin sodimms (or the smaller pin ones), then yes, if it is the 144pin edo sodimms, then no

you shouldn't need to, that's why it is called DIMM
Dual Inline Memory Module. Which means that two banks are already paired in the module. Correct me if I'm wrong.

no your absolutly right..that was is the whole idea of a dimm....it acts as one bank and can simultaneously open one address before closing another.....two simms make one bank and they may only have one address opened at a time....
