Does soda burn your lips?

I just found out that Diet Coke makes my lip feel painful if I leave it touching for more than 10 second.

Must be the acid.

More than ten seconds? Sure, that'll cause a slight burning sensation. Most people don't hold soda on their lips or in their mouths for that long though.

Personally, soda makes me hiccup when I first start drinking it. The hiccups subside within a minute.

or are you like from redneck country and just discovering all these things like toothpaste, and pop. And not understanding how to use/consume them properly, you leave them on a surface for far longer than one would ever normally do?

you confuse me

It probably should...considering some jurisdictions use Coca-Cola to clean blood stains off roadways after a collision. Yea, it's that strong :Q.

seriously. What the hell is soda? I hear soda, I'm thinking stuff like club soda, spirtzer, and the like. Backwards people and your soda. Sheesh.

That's ALMOST as bad as the people down south. What'll ya have to drink? Coke. Got it, what kind?
Wait... what? These folk consider any typical pop to be Coke. Only Coke is Coke, oh and coke of course. That's where its at.

Yeah... I've heard that before, but the same people say coke will dissolve a nail. Ha.

Yeah, it's not that strong. Many solutions have far stronger concentrations of similar acids than Coca-Cola, so that'd be pointless.

That, and I haven't found one link that says that is true. Snopes seems to point to it being a fat lie, but one other similar site says its unproven. Some backwoods small town of 100 might do that due to lack of funds, but general soda water, containing carbonic acid, could do the same thing.
