I read the webpage, but I'm wondering if I am missing something.

Thanks for comments!

Yeah, you can set up a number so you can receive calls, and you can also get voicemail if you miss those calls. It's called Skype In and Skype Voicemail.

skype needs a better caller ID system.

last time i had skype it would only tell you who was calling you if it was another skype user. (or something like that)

It tells me the number and checks the number against my skype list of numbers and my outlook list. (I use outlook to manage all contacts. Maybe skype works with other programs too.)

What it is bad at is caller ID for outgoing calls. If you have skypein and skypeout it does not show your skypein number when using skypeout unless your skypein number is in a select set of countries, not including the US.

I use it but it has major flaws.
-CallerID in USA: people you call will not know who is calling. This is a huge disadvantage of the service. I never use skypeout to the USA for this reason (except for international calls but that is only because I have a UK skypin number too which I am happy to use for international calls.)
-Missed calls are only reported on any computer logged in to skype at the time of the missed call (unless voicemail was left).
-If you don't have a mobile phone contract what will you do when you are out and don't have a connected computer (e.g. pda, not that the software works well on pdas) on hand?
-It is not as reliable a service

OTOH it is is cheap and call quality is good nowadays (at least on a very good network connection).
