Does size make a difference?

My son wants a 360 for Xmas. Can he play all the games with a small (20 gig) hard drive? I believe the Arcade version comes with that, but I don't want to buy it & come to find out he can't play Gears Of War on it because the HD s too small.

As long as he doesn't try to load a bunch of games to the HD(NXE only), download (and never delete) a million demos, or load it up with video content and ripped music, I don't think there will be a problem. The 360 doesn't have any "mandated installs" like the PS3 does.

It doesn't, just a 256mb memory card for saves mostly. The Pro and Elite include hard drives. Pro 60gb(use to be 20gb) and the Elite 120gb. If he wants to play on Live he will need a hard drive. Otherwise its single player only.

If he buys an Arcade, he can get a 20GB HDD through MS for $30.

But yes, if you are using the 360 just for games, a 20GB HDD is more than sufficient.

Another thing about the hard drive is that if you want to buy any dirt cheap Xbox "orginal" games that are backwards compatible you need the HD also. But the 20 gig will be plenty for that too. (Assuming you buy the disk version and not the download off of the Live Marketplace).

Here's the site for the HD program from MS:

$30 for the 20 gig drive.

Circuit City has an Arcade unit with an extra controller & a 20gig HD for 199.99 on Black Friday.

Sounds like what I want?

A very awesome deal if you are able to nab one.

Really makes me reconsider my Arcade purchase from Dell for $165. But by the time I pay shipping costs and a possible restocking fee I'm not gaining much.

Best black friday bundle if you're getting a new 360 IMO.

(Only downside is no headset)

No, that's a positive. The less annoying yokels screaming into their headsets the better.

Get the headset with the 12-month Xbox Live kit

Hell, you need a headset? I have two that I don't use. Just pay for shipping.

You should definately get a HD, so that deal sounds pretty good.
