I'm curious, even when I have SETI running in the background, the life of the battery on my laptop is cut into a 3rd or so. Is it me, or should I look at some other reason? Thanks for your time.
It's just because SETI is running all the time, and so your CPU is running all the time. It won't be throttling itself back or implementing any power-saving measures.
seti isn't quite as friendly as rc5 on laptops... rc5 could detect when you were on batteries and kill the cruncher... seti is just completly ignorant of your power supply.
