Does SB Live! w/VIA 686B still = bad things?

Does it? Or has 4.32 really fixed the problem? Via says it did...but there still seem to be some reports of problems with this combination.

For me, I was lucky. Asus A7V133 + SBLive!Value1 and never a problem. Actually how does one reproduce it if the problem exist on their machine?

New BIOS for my KK266 didnt quite fix it for me but installing the VIA 4.32 completely fixed the problem.

So...now the question is: SB Live! Value or $20 more for Santa Cruz...or Acoustic Edge...hrrmmmm...maybe even X-Gamer

My old SBLive! worked fine on my Via686B.

However I upgraded to a Santa Cruz and I'm happy as a pig in sh*t

I think the Cruz is a much better card, but you shouldn't have any problems with the Live.

Yeah...i'm reading around...trying to see who gives the best positional sound--i'm an avid gamer Music is important too...but my cd-player does just fine for that...especially b/c my parents hate my music...lol

Another working SB Live / VIA combination here.. tho' the Creative software is damn crap Hosed my system.. thank god they included "drivers only" option in installation.
