Does SAMS club have thier Own Model Numbers.

OK so I see the post in Hot deals about the free 1 year memebership to Sams Club, print it out and ride on over, sign up with no problem. Now I am cruising the isles to see what all they have and I come across a Kenwood HTB-354 (Home Theatre in Box) for 299.00. I am checking it out and it comes with the Kenwood VR -517 receiver. Hmm I think I never saw this model before so I pull out the large Kenwood Box and it DOES indeed list the Model Numbers as HTB-354 and VR-517 receiver. Now i had researched all of this a few weeks ago in depth and decided to go with the Kenwood HTB-504 that came with the VR-509 Receiver. I had found it for roughly 400.00 shipped. I came home and checked Kenwoods site and low and behold niether of the model numbers at Sams are there. So off to google and NO hits on either one of them. Anyone in the know about this? If so what mainstream model does it compare too?


Yes I know I can do much better for the money but I have to convice the WIFE first. Then I can make the BIG BUYS.

I don't know anything about Kenwood models, but it's common for big chains to have their "own" model numbers. That's so they can advertise "We'll beat anyone's deal or pay you $50" and things like that - and never have to pay off. No one else could have the exact same item.

The other reason is to keep people from ripping off the store with returns.

Go to the manager and make a big fuss about it. Sometimes it?s just the packaging, and the actual equipment will have the 'real' model number on it. If none of this work, e-mail your local TV stations, their 'consumer teams' love to do theses stories.

They had the dispal model set-up. That is how I found out the Receiver Number.

I know Wal-Mart does have their own model numbers. The main reason I guess would be so they do not have to price match.
