Does rubber washer really works??

Just wondering if rubber washer really help lowering the noise of ur fan cause i'm thinking of getting some, but not sure. Can you buy them at home depot or other hardware stores??

It should. The fan is giving off vibrations and this is being transferred to the case due to the hard mounting. If you "isolate" the fan from the case with rubber washers, the vibrations will be dampened in the rubber not the case. You should be able to find something at a hardware store.

Or you might try radio shack or an autoparts store. Another possibility is rubber grommets. That way you won't have to keep track of the washers.

Just look for "O" rings. Hardware stores, welding supply outfits, auto parts stores etc. Take a fan screw with you so you get the right size.

Go with Rubber O Rings as MrThompson said. You can get like 20 of em for 50cents, and no effort to install. It all depends on your case and what kinda fans your using too hear if it makes a difference.

Ive got thick rubber grommets on my fan mounts and I didnt notice any difference whatsoever.
Hopefully, you'll have better luck.

The washers will work only if the noise you are getting is from vibration of the fan that may not have been put on tight enough. If the fan is screwed on tight enough, the washers will not make much of a difference. Most fans are plastic and will act as somewhat of an absorber.😉

I think you can check if it will make a difference by putting your finger against the fan casing...cuz that will absorb the vibrations the same as rubber grommets will.
