Does road runner have static ips?

I need to know if road runner has static ips. We're going to be running a very small server and i figured to get a domain name i would need a static ip. Anybody know if they have static ips and if not how much it would cost to get one?

They sure do. I believe they are called "The business plan". Not sure if they allow non-commercial accounts static IPs though. If you do have a dynamic changing IP and plan on holding a web/FTP server you can always use a dynamic DNS service. Look on the web for one.

hmm, found a decent place that offers dynamic DNS, but i wonder if road runner blocks port 80, if i can access the server through it's ip will i be able to access it throughit's domain name?

have you tried calling RR and asking? when I set up my linux box, they said in my area they weren't using static ip's yet, but they do allow them for all customers in some areas.

hmm, i know that as long as the cable modem is on the ip won't change, if the IP does change how long would a static DNS service take to change the IP it routes people to?

A dynamic DNS service typically refreshes almost instantly. What matters is the client software you have running so the updates can be made quickly. In a typical situation though, the IP will change because there is line maintenance going on in your area (in the early morning hours usually) so your connection goes dead for a few minutes anyways.
