Does replacing a laptop's keyboard fix unresponsive keys?

I just got a used Asus X401A from Ebay and its a very nice laptop but a few keys are unresponsive including the spacebar.

I was going to return it but I kinda don't want to because I got a very good deal on it.

I saw this replacement keyboard for the X401A.

My question is does replacing a keyboard fix unresponsive keys or is that just for if you broke off a piece of the button?

it may or may not. worst case scenario is if the ribbon cable or connection is screwed up. this from a fresh install and sure its not a driver/language/regional etc issue?

it maybe the keyboard or the keyboard controller on the motherboard.

try a new keyboard first.*

*assuming no software issues are found.

I would reseat (unplug it from the motherboard and plug it back in) the keyboard cable before dropping money on a keyboard. Chances are, the keyboard cable is just loose or has some grime in it and you don't even need to buy a keyboard. If that doesn't work, then I would buy the keyboard. Buying a keyboard before trying to reseat the existing keyboard would be stupid.

The likelihood that it is the keyboard port on the motherboard is very, very low. So low that I wouldn't hesitate to drop the cash on a keyboard if reseating it doesn't fix the problem -- and I'm a pretty cheap dude.
