does repairing win xp destroy all program links?

if you perform a repair on a win xp install using the feature on the xp disc, will all your program links be destroyed or will they stay intact?

They SHOULD stay intact. I've never lost any, but you should backup everything. Just in case.

They stay intact other than any default shortcuts (accessories, system tools, etc) you may have moved/deleted will be put back.
